French artist Laurent Lafolie has been focusing his research for the past fifteen years on the mechanisms by which images appear and are perceived.
Also recognized as one of the best printmakers of his generation, he pushes experimentation with chemistry, choice of supports (washi, tracing paper, silk, glass, ceramics) and printing processes (contact, platinum, printing, etching, enameling, laser engraving) to the level of an artistic challenge.

A few years ago, the techniques and processes that he had developed and/or used for his artistic projects allowed him to open a photography laboratory and workshop in the South West of France, designed for the use of artist-photographers.
Winner of the Florence & Damien Bachelot Collection 2022 prize, he is laureate of the national commission “Réinventer la photographie” in 2025, to mark the bicentenary of photography.
