Born in France in 1963, Laurent Lafolie has been working with photography since 1980. During his first years of practice, he collaborated with theatre directors and, from 1994 on, with contemporary choreographers. Since 2005, his research has focused on independent artistic projects.

A few years ago, the techniques and processes that he had developed and/or used for his artistic projects allowed him to open a photography laboratory and workshop in the South West of France, designed for the use of artist-photographers.
